SUMMARY:Angelo Villa: Pyschoanalysis and the Handicapped
DESCRIPTION:I am pleased to send an announcement for our final clinical study day with Angelo Villa on June 7th from 2–4pm at 80 Fifth Avenue Room Room G529.\n\nWhat I think is of particular interest to Das Unbehagen is Villa’s diverse training\, including experience working in institutions for autism and the handicapped\, psychosis and severe trauma\, as well as\, with children and families. He is someone whose work ranges from clinical studies\, to Lacanian and Kleinian theory\, to rock and roll\, and beyond. He is part of a long tradition of working in institutional settings as a psychoanalyst stemming from the early crossings of analysts in England and France from Bowlby\, to Winnicott\, Francois Dolto and Maud Mannoni. He is keenly sensitive to the role of a psychoanalyst in these environments and so follows our work earlier in the year with Ann Louise Silver and Ruth Weinberg.\n\nHis recent book – The Hand in the Cap= is translated and published with Karnac and you can read my preface published in Division/Review here: http://issuu.com/divisionreview/docs/dr_9final/2\n
