Introduced/Moderated by Manya Steinkoler PhD \nTo inaugurate the journal’s sixth Issue on Belonging available at http://thecandidatejournal.org/issues/6/ \nThe Candidate Journal and Das Unbehagen are hosting a panel and discussion on what it means to speak or write from the position of a candidate. What is assumed in the candidate’s voice\, what perspective is that voice meant to take? If our belonging is predicated on being a candidate\, then what changes once “candidacy” is completed? Is there a movement from skepticism to authority\, from ignorance to knowledge\, from learner to teacher? Or does the very practice and theory of psychoanalysis poke holes in the presumptions of the supposed competency or mastery? If there is no clear difference between candidate and graduate\, is there a need for the “candidate’s” voice in an era when institutional frameworks and their authorization are being questioned in psychoanalysis? And how does this voice differ in communities where those questions are seen as irrelevant? \nThe panel will also allow us to explore the ongoing place for The Candidate Journal and its future iterations. \nSponsored by The Candidate Journal and Das Unbehagen \n
